Letter: Have faith in Maine clerks this election

I was surprised to read that, “More than one-third of Mainers are not confident their votes will be counted accurately.” I have been privileged to live in Maine for almost 28 years. Having resided in Sorrento, Lamoine and Blue Hill, I have voted in all the presidential elections and in almost all the local elections. I have found the clerks and the volunteers who worked in the elections to be professional and have not had any reason to doubt their integrity. I thank those clerks and volunteers for their work as well as those who are doing this work now throughout the state in these very difficult times.
The article also points out that about a quarter of the voters do not like ranked-choice voting, which is used only in Maine and Alaska for the presidential elections. It is highly unlikely that ranked-choice voting for president in these two states will determine the outcome of the 2024 presidential election.
