    Description

    This is a super rare Mitutoyo 10x/0.42 HR objective with an unusual variant marking of f20 (20mm being the focal length of a 10x objective in a 200mm infinity microscope).  It was likely commissioned as part of an OEM device, maybe coupled to a zoom lens where the large image circle and high resolution are especially welcome.
    It is a really nice objective, and was recently tested by Robert OToole in comparison with the Qioptiq Mag.X 8x (the MagX is better overall, which makes sense given it costs double with the Mitutoyo objective does new--good luck ever finding one though!).
    It is a much fatter and heavier objective than the normal M Plan Apo objectives.  I have included my own test image stack with center and corner crops, taken on a 200mm tube lens at 10x (the dark eges are from my coaxial illuminator not an issue with the objective, the objective can be pushed down below 10x with the right tube lens).
    This is a great lens and the image it produces is easily superior to the already-great M Plan Apo 10x/0.28, I just can't justify keeping it for my own usage.  I thought I was getting a 20x with variant styling when I bought it.  If you're interested to make an offer, since the temptation to just keep it grows every day.
